Report “Optimized pathways to CO2 reduction in the Dutch context”
25 January 12
The Energy Forum NL (EFNL), a business platform having DONG Energy, EBN, Eneco, GasTerra, Gasunie, GDF SUEZ and Shell as members, has recently completed a study on the Dutch energy situation linked to the climate objectives of 2030 and 2050.
The research study contains an objective analysis of the energy mix that is necessary to achieve CO2 reduction of 80% by 2050 in comparison with 1990. However, the study focuses on the ambitions for the next 20 years, with the derived ambition of 40% CO2 reduction by 2030 in comparison with 1990.
Conclusion of the study? Making a commitment to natural gas and higher CO2 prices are essential for the optimal development of renewable energy sources (including biomass and offshore wind) as well as achieving CO2 reduction objectives.
